Offload the Complexity
You don’t need to diagnose the problem before you bring it to me.
Something isn’t right. Decisions keep circling. Work gets stuck. The same irritation returns under a different name. People are exhausted, but more effort isn’t improving the situation.
You may only have symptoms. That is enough to begin.
I help you make sense of what is happening, uncover what keeps producing it, and establish a practical path towards resolution.
Experience and thinking behind the work
I’ve spent more than two decades working through complexity in large institutions, where strategy, systems, power and people meet. My work has included organisational diagnosis, capability development and the practical arrangements needed to turn a direction into action.
That experience informs Fragmentation to Integration, a framework I’ve developed to examine recurring problems, distinguish what needs repair from what needs transformation, and identify the changes that matter. It helps me investigate why capable people can keep encountering the same difficulty and where a way forward begins.
Establish what we’re actually dealing with
The first explanation is not always the most useful one. A performance problem may involve unclear responsibilities. A difficult relationship may reveal competing expectations. A delivery problem may begin somewhere far from the work that is visibly delayed.
I work with you and the people involved to define the problem and establish a shared understanding. We bring the relevant pieces together so decisions rest on a clearer picture.
A problem we understand together is a problem we can begin to address together.
Look beneath the symptoms
What is less visible, but critical?
I examine the relationships between priorities, decisions, roles, incentives, information and ways of working. We look for the conditions that keep reproducing the difficulty—even when capable people are trying to resolve it.
This helps us distinguish what needs attention from what is simply attracting attention.
Find the moves that matter
Understanding should give you somewhere to go.
We identify the few consequential changes that can improve the situation: a decision that needs making, a responsibility that needs clarifying, a dependency that needs resolving, or a way of working that needs changing.
You leave with a clearer account of the problem, agreed priorities and a basis for action.
How we can work together
You can engage me around a specific difficulty, a recurring organisational problem, or a situation that needs focused investigation and intervention.
Where implementation is required, we can also agree a delivery role.
Bring the symptoms. We’ll work out what they mean—and what to do next.
